Lynne Lowe is a woman with profound empathy, resilience, and spiritual grounding whose understanding of “home” extends far beyond physical shelter. For Lynne, home is a place of safety, reflection, faith, and emotional truth—somewhere she can fully be herself while holding both joy and hardship at once. People-oriented and curious by nature, she describes herself as open-minded, loyal, and committed to helping others whenever she can. Faith, music, flowers, trees, and the natural beauty of the Rogue Valley all serve as places of refuge and renewal for her.

After moving from Santa Barbara to Southern Oregon in 2013, Lynne unexpectedly found herself homeless following a difficult living situation. She spent time at the Women’s Gospel Mission before eventually being connected through La Clinica to housing assistance that helped her secure the apartment where she still lives today. Rather than allowing homelessness to define her, Lynne approached it as a circumstance she needed to work through with determination and gratitude. She immersed herself in volunteer work, patient advocacy, and community involvement through La Clinica, eventually joining both its patient council and board leadership—something she never imagined possible for herself.

Lynne’s worldview is deeply shaped by both her faith and her identity as a Black American woman whose family history is rooted in the legacy of slavery, resilience, storytelling, and community strength. She speaks candidly about racism, prejudice, and the emotional toll of hatred in modern society, while remaining committed to kindness and the joyful celebration of all beings. Even while navigating the medical system, upcoming surgery, and ongoing health challenges, she consistently returns to gratitude rather than despair. At 71 years old, Lynne sees each day as a gift and hopes that sharing her story might encourage even one struggling person—especially a younger person—not to give up on life.

Following our photoshoot, Lynne wrote with heartfelt gratitude about feeling truly seen, cared for, and comfortable during the experience. Her reflections revealed a woman who values sincerity, emotional connection, and simple acts of kindness. Even the wilted flowers she brought home from the shoot and immediately put in water, became symbolic of her journey: weathered at first, but revived with care, patience, and attention—much like Lynne herself. 
